Introduction

Opex Consulting is committed to the highest ethical standards and to preventing modern
slavery and human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chains. Although we are a
small enterprise, we recognise our responsibility to act with integrity and transparency. We are
dedicated to ethical business practices and compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Our Business and Structure

Opex are a professional and independent Facilities Management (FM) consultancy with fewer than 20 employees. Opex advises its clients across many Facilities Management and Property Management requirements. We understand client corporate and business activities and are equally at home advising on hard or soft FM issues.

We provide integrated facilities management consultancy services to corporate clients. Our team is primarily office-based. We deliver services through a combination of direct staff and outsourced providers, operating mainly within the UK.

Supply Chains

Our supply chain includes local and regional subcontractors and temporary staff through recruitment agencies. We aim to work only with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical labour practices. We understand that outsourcing introduces additional risks, and we manage those through our onboarding procedures.

Policies and Practices

While we are not currently required by law to publish a Modern Slavery Statement, we
voluntarily support the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Our practices include:

  • Vetting suppliers for ethical compliance, where feasible.
  • Ensuring fair recruitment and employment terms for our staff.
  • Promoting an open culture where concerns can be reported confidentially.

Risk Management

Given our size, we maintain close relationships with our employees and subcontractors, allowing us to monitor labour conditions closely. We acknowledge the risks present in industries like cleaning and construction, and are vigilant about avoiding exploitative labour practices.

Training and Awareness

Although we do not have formal training programs, senior management ensures that all staff understand the signs of modern slavery and know how to report any concerns. We also review government guidance to stay informed about best practices.

Looking Ahead

As we grow, we will continue to improve our supplier checks, staff awareness, and internal policies to strengthen our commitment to combating modern slavery. We aim to improve our supplier onboarding standards and explore training options for staff and subcontractors.
